Information Request
Thank you for your interest in our project, but the National Center for Home Food Preservation funding has come to an end for now. We do not have any paid staff and there is no one assigned to answer general email questions. We will do our best to answer questions that directly relate to explaining the information on our website, and we will be making sure the website information stays up to date and new information is added as available.
Please use our search function to find the recommendations on our site, and if you are looking for specific recommendations, procedures and recipes, check out our How do I? menus to the left or the Publications menu.
Some additional help for specific frequent questions:
- We cannot provide a process time/recommendation for your own individual recipes.
- The National Center for Home Food Preservation is not able to provide assistance to people wanting help with product development or regulations for selling foods. You can look for additional websites devoted to this and state-by-state references on our website here: http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/business/starting_business.html Occasionally links on this page are broken, and we fix them as the states listed bring their information back on line.
Or, contact the state department of agriculture or health in your state, or food science department at one of your state universities and see if they are able to provide advice. You can find contact information for your state's county Extension offices at this link, under the item: Find Your Local Extension Office.
That local Extension office should be able to tell you how to contact the food science department at their home university, if there is one in your state.
- Your Local Cooperative Extension Office may be able to help you find recommendations for preserving more regional or area specialty foods, such as fruits. We are often asked for jam and jelly recipes for fruits not found on our site, for example. You can find contact information for your state's county Extension offices at this link, under the item: Find Your Local Extension Office. http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/links/links_home.html
Thank you for your interest in our project and information. We regret that we must curtail the services provided over the past 8 years. If you do have trouble understanding the recommendations on our site, please fill out our form if you would like us to answer your question.
