Information Request

Thank you for your interest in The National Center for Home Food Preservation resources.  If you need further explanation of the information on our website we will do our best to help you.  There is no full-time website assistance, however, so please be patient.

Please read the following additional information to help with your interests before filling out our Info Request form:

Please use our search function to find the recommendations on our site, and if you are looking for specific recommendations, procedures and recipes, check out our How do I? menus to the left or the Publications menu.

Some additional help for specific frequent questions:

  1. We cannot provide a process time/recommendation for your own individual recipes.

  2. The National Center for Home Food Preservation is not able to provide individual assistance to people wanting help with product development or regulations for selling foods.  You can look for additional websites devoted to this and state-by-state references on our website here:   http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/business/starting_business.html   Occasionally links on this page are broken, and we fix them as the states listed bring their information back on line.

Or, contact the state department of agriculture or health in your state, or food science department at one of your state universities and see if they are able to provide advice.  You can find contact information for your state's county Extension offices at this link, under the item: Find Your Local Extension Office.

That local Extension office should be able to tell you how to contact the food science department at their home university, if there is one in your state.

  3. Your Local Cooperative Extension Office may be able to help you with more immediate needs.  Most states in the country have county- or area-based Cooperative Extension offices with professionals who can help you in home food preservation or connections to expertise at the land-grant universities in your state.  You can find contact information for your state's county Extension offices at this link, under the item: Find Your Local Extension Office. http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/links/links_home.html

  4. You may also be able to find recommendations for preserving more regional or area specialty foods, such as fruits, from your local or state Cooperative Extension Service.  We are often asked for jam and jelly recipes for fruits not found on our site, for example.

Thank you again for your interest in our information.  If we can assist with information found on our website, please fill out the Info Request form.

Privacy Statement: The information you provide will be used solely to facilitate your information request by the staff of the NCHFP. All information will be kept confidential.

Please be aware: We try to respond to all requests submitted with this form. If you do not receive a response from us within four weeks, you may have mis-typed your email address. Please feel free to resubmit your question if you feel that we may have not answered in a reasonable amount of time.
