Looking for help?
First, please use our How do I? menus to the left, try our search function, and look through the Publications menu.
Next, review these frequently asked questions:
- Have a food preservation concern that needs IMMEDIATE attention? Your local Cooperative Extension office may be able to help you with more immediate needs. Most states in the country have county- or area-based Cooperative Extension offices with professionals who can help you in home food preservation or connect you to expertise at the land-grant universities in your state. You can find contact information for your state's county Extension offices at this link, under the item: Find Your Local Extension Office.
- Want to can your own recipe or your favorite recipe from another source? Sorry, but we cannot provide a process time/recommendation for your own individual recipes.
- Interested in selling your home-preserved product? The National Center for Home Food Preservation is not able to provide individual assistance to people wanting help with product development or regulations for selling foods. You can look for additional websites devoted to this and state-by-state references on our website here: Resources for Starting Your Own Preserved Foods Business.
- Curious about preserving regional or area specialty foods? You may also be able to find recommendations for preserving more regional or area specialty foods, such as unusual fruit jellies or jams, from your local or state Cooperative Extension Service. We do have some featured publications from other universities linked on this site.
If you still have questions about the information found on our website, we will do our best to help you; please fill out the Info Request form. As of October 14, 2015, there are no paid staff to provide individual assistance from the National Center. Please be patient. If you do not receive a response from us within 3 to 4 weeks, please feel free to resubmit your question.
